Cybertruck charging has improved through a combination of updated 4680 battery cells and software-controlled charging behavior, according to Tesla’s lead Cybertruck engineer. In a September 13, 2026 update, Wes Morrill said refinements had reduced the truck’s 10%–80% fast-charging time by several minutes.
The most eye-catching number in the coverage was 500 kW peak charging, but that wasn’t the main new development. The larger day-to-day benefit is the possibility of a better charging curve—more sustained useful power across the portion of the battery owners typically charge during a trip.
