The Ultimate All-in-One EV Calculator Hub is Now Live

If you’re anything like me, you love digging into the numbers behind your EV. Whether you’re crunching charging costs, figuring out exactly how much range you’ll lose to the winter cold, or trying to translate Wh/mi into Wh/km, the math can get a little tedious to do in your head.

That’s exactly why I built the EV Advanced Calculators Hub—now live right here on the site.

EV Tools — Advanced Calculators | bcteslaguy.com

EV Advanced Calculators

High-precision tools for range, charging curves, health diagnostics, and metrics.
Units:

Trip Energy & Cost

Overhead factors in conversion thermal losses during typical AC or DC charging cycles.

Charging Curve Estimator

DC Fast Charge automatically simulates battery charge tapering behaviors observed over 50% SoC.

Real-World Range Estimator

Environmental constraints account for elevation changes, cold temperatures, and headwind drag.

Battery Health & Degradation

Computes real nominal capacity loss compared to factory ratings at standard calibration states.

Home Charging Infrastructure

Applies the standard continuous safety code calculation (80% load maximum limits).

Vampire Standby Loss

Quantifies phantom background compute load power consumption while parked.

Gas vs EV Comparison

Conversion Metrics Matrix

Miles/kWh → Wh/mi

Output: 250.0 Wh/mi

Miles/kWh → km/kWh

Output: 6.44 km/kWh

Wh/km → mi/kWh

Output: 4.14 mi/kWh

Wh/km → kWh/100km

Output: 15.0 kWh/100km

Assumptions & Operational Metrics

  • Calculations utilize local geometric conversion rules ($1\text{ mile} \approx 1.60934\text{ kilometers}$).
  • Taper curves simulate localized standard lithium-ion thermal restrictions where charge power trails incrementally above 50% state values.
  • Continuous electrical infrastructure parameters follow the National Electrical Code standard definitions ($P = V \times A \times 0.80$).

Since picking up my 2026 Model Y Standard (the Giga Berlin build we get here in Canada) and passing the 26,000 km mark for my recent battery health test, I realized I needed a centralized, high-precision tool to track my metrics without jumping between five different websites. I wanted something clean, accurate, and completely localized for both Metric and Imperial users.

So, I put it all into one powerful dashboard. Here is a breakdown of what you can do with the new toolset:

🔋 Battery Health & Degradation Tracker

If you follow the YouTube channel, you know I’m diligent about milestone battery health tests. This new calculator lets you input your original factory max range alongside your current full range to instantly output your battery’s health retention percentage and net nominal degradation. It’s perfect for keeping an ongoing log of your pack’s lifespan.

⚡ Dynamic Charging Curve Estimator

Not all charging is created equal. While Level 1 and 2 home chargers deliver a flat power curve, DC Fast Charging tapers off as your battery fills up. This tool lets you switch between a Flat Power profile and a Taper Curve profile to give you a highly realistic estimate of how long you’ll actually be sitting at the Supercharger.

🔌 Home Charging Infrastructure Planner

Thinking about installing a wall connector or a new outlet? This tool automatically applies standard continuous electrical safety codes (the 80% load rule). Just input your voltage and breaker size, and it will tell you exactly how many continuous amps you can safely draw, the kW delivery, and your added range per hour.

🧛‍♂️ Vampire Standby Loss Estimator

We all love Sentry Mode and Cabin Overheat Protection, but they do consume power. If you’re leaving your car parked at the airport for a week, this tool calculates the expected phantom drain in both kWh and estimated lost range based on the standby profile you select.

🧮 The Conversion Matrix

No more scratching your head when reading forums from different countries. The matrix instantly translates efficiency metrics across the board:

  • Miles/kWh → Wh/mi
  • Miles/kWh → km/kWh
  • Wh/km → mi/kWh
  • Wh/km → kWh/100km
  • Wh/mi → Wh/km (Freshly added!)

⛽ Gas vs. EV Savings & Trip Costs

Trying to convince a friend to make the switch to electric? The comparison calculator breaks down the annual operational cost of their ICE vehicle versus an EV based on local electricity and gas prices, showing the exact net savings in dollars. You can also use the Trip Energy tool to estimate exactly how much a weekend road trip will cost you in charging fees.

Run Your Own Numbers

The best part? No data is stored or transmitted. Everything runs securely and instantly right inside your browser.
